It is the seventh step hydro-electric station, with multifunction such as generating electricity, controlling flood, breeding aquatics, irrigating, shipping, and sightseeing. From the dock, take the high speed boat (30 minute) to reach the Bingling Temple Grottoes. Bingling means one hundred thousand Buddha in the Tibetan language. The grottoes are in two temples, upper and lower, and are distributed on the cliff that is 2 kilometers long from north to south, borders on the Yellow River and is strategically located and difficult to access. Bingling Temple Grottos started in the Western Jin Dynasty (265-316). There are altogether 34 grottoes, 149 shrines, 694 big or small stone statues, 82 mud statues here. There is an ink preface of that time found in the No.169 grotto, which is the earliest preface found in the all the grottoes by far. After the tour heading directly to Xiahe where the Labrang Monastery is.

Tour Tips:
 1. Bingling Temple can only be reached by waterway in summer and autumn via Liujiaxia Dam. Additional fees will be charged for visiting special caves.
2. The average elevation of Xiahe County is within 3,000 m (9,843 ft), seldom incurs high altitude sickness when visiting Xiahe.

Day3 Xiahe – Lanzhou

In the morning visit Labrang Monastery, the most influential monastery outside the Tibet Autonomous Region and also one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug (Yellow Hat) school of Tibetan Buddhism. It is also famous for having the most complete Tibetan Buddhism teaching system in China. The monastery is large in scale and magnificent in architecture style, enshrining a lot of huge Buddha statues and various exquisite sculptures, murals and magical instruments. Its pilgrimage corridor has over 2000 prayer wheels, as the longest of its kind in the world. In the southwest corner of Labrang Monastery, there is an ancient wooden bridge. Walking crosses the bridge and walking up to the hill, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Labrang Monastery and surrounding. Afterwards, take an excursion to Sangke Grassland which is a natural pasture of Tibetan nomads. The grass is lush like a blanket in summer and the cattle and sheep are herding in groups under the blue sky and white clouds. What a pastoral scenery.
