Wolong and the nearby Balang Mountain is located in the transitional area between Sichuan Basin and the eastern edge of Tibetan Plateau with an altitude from 1700 to 5040 metres above sea level. With plenty of rainfall and complicated terrain,this area is a sanctuary to various kinds of plants and animals,including the world famous giant pandas.It always inspires people to walk into this area and explore more.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1
Please check out and meet up your guide at your hotel lobby at 7:00.After arriving at Gengda Panda Base at 8:45, we will sign up and pay the program at the office.Then we will put on the work uniform and follow the staff to the enclosures.
We will pick trash and poo, clean and rinse the floor, smash bamboo,make panda cake and feed the panda with your own hand. It is allowed to take photos of the activities mentioned above. At 10:30 you will have an option of milking the baby panda and playing with them for about 5 minutes. NO PHOTOS of this part!
Lunch is included. You will watch a documentary from 13:00 to 14:00 before cleaning the enclosure and feeding the panda in the afternoon. At 15:30, milk and play with them again.
After getting the certificate,we will head for Wolong Giant Panda Museum.Spend overnight in a guesthouse near Wolong Town.
Day 2
Rise up early and head for Balang Mountain,the most fascinating birding site in China.
Starting from  the middle waist of the  mountain, we will search for alphine birds,e.g. the endemic Chinese Monal,  White-eared Pheasant, Dark- breasted Rosefinch, Crimson-browed Finch, Common Rosefinch, Kessler's Thrush (White- backed Thrush), Chestnut Thrush, etc. At the mountain pass(4480 metres above sea level),the highest point in the trip,we will continue to search for  scurrying Snow Partridge, Tibetan Snowcock, Blood Pheasant, Grandala, Lammergeier (Bearded Vulture), Red and Yellow-billed Chough, Alpine Accentor, Brandt’s Mountain Finch and Red-fronted Rosefinch, etc.
Take-away lunch is prepared beforehand.
Head back for Chengdu.Drop you off at your hotel in the early evening.

1. Panda Keeper Volunteer Work:CNY900 per person.
  Milking,feeding and playing programme:CNY3000 per person
  Lunch is compliment when taking either of those programme.
2.Meals.Approximately CNY50 per person per meal.

Trip Notes

1. A valid passport, a valid China visa and Tibet Permits are necessary documents for traveling in Tibet.
2. In Tibet, we suggest you avoid strong activity; do not take shower at the first day; drink more water and avoid of alcohol; better not to take oxygen if your AMS symptoms are mild. Always remember that if you have any problems or feel uncomfortable, please tell your guide immediately or contact our travel consultant.
3. A windbreaker, a pair of durable and comfortable shoes, a down jacket (better with hat), sunscreen cream, sun block, skin cream and lip balm, sunglasses, medicine for urgent use.
Holding Panda in Chengdu
For the sake of giant panda, Chengdu Research Base of Panda Breeding is not available for holding a panda at present. If you are interested, please extend to Dujiangyan Panda Base, Wolong Shenshuping Panda Base and Ya'an Bifengxia Panda Base instead.
High Speed Train Experience
Taking high speed train to travel around China will be unique and special experience for you. Instead of taking flight, you can take high speed train from Beijing to Xian/Xian to Beijing, Chengdu to Chongqing, Yichang to Shanghai/Shanghai to Yichang, etc. All are within comfortable traveling time to reach the destinations. Any cancellation by you must be initiated by telephone/message to +86-15528237897 OR by email to info@letourpanda.com. We will acknowledge your cancellation by email.
If you cancel or cannot take your tour as a consequence of force majeure, LeTourPanda will refund the amount you have paid less any non-recoverable out-of-pocket costs incurred on your behalf - car rentals, admissions, hotel reservations, tickets etc. We may require you to provide verification to confirm that you were unable to take your tour if you request a refund under this provision.
Force Majeure includes impersonal events such as war, civil insurrection, strikes, volcanoes, extreme weather, earthquake or natural disaster that makes it dangerous or impossible to safely undertake the tour. The determination of what constitutes 'Force Majeure' is at the discretion of LeTourPanda.
For cancellation due to any other reasons (such as illness, change of personal circumstances), the date on which the request to cancel is received by LeTourPanda will determine the refund due as follows:
If you cancel 7 days or more before the start of the tour:10% cancellation fee.
If you cancel 6 to 2 days before the start of the tour:50% cancellation fee.
If you cancel less than 1 day before the start of the tour or no show: 100% cancellation fee.
