Summary:
Ya’an about 140km driving distance southwest from Chengdu City has a poetic name as “Rain City” with very pleasant clean air! It is the “real hometown of giant pandas” as the first panda specimen was found here in 1868.
Besides, it boasts the oldest tea species cultivated at Mengding Mountain tea plantations, picturesque Shangli Old Town with rivers and mountains embraced, etc. to be famous for a nice culture enjoyment for anyone. More importantly, Ya’an has been the “Throat of Western Sichuan” from long ago, and the splendid picture scroll of typical Tibetan styled Western Sichuan plateau begins unfolding here after leaving Chengdu Plain on the east side.
There’s no better place to experience the entire tea-making process than at the origin of tea itself – China! On your private tour of Mt Mengding (Mengdingshan) from Chengdu, a local farmer will teach you the whole process of making tea, from harvesting to brewing.

Day 1 Chengdu - Mengdingshan--Shangli - Bifengxia
After breakfast, you’ll head to Mengding Mountain in Ya’an City (2-hours’ drive). Mengding Mountain is the birthplace of Chinese tea civilization and the cradle of tea culture. As the saying goes “The Yangtze River tops the waters, the Mengding tea is best of its kind.” It has a history of more than one thousand years in tea planting, tea making and tea sipping art.
Your today’s tour will first see the No.1 Teapot in the world, then proceed to the Tea Culture Museum, take cable car to the mid-mountain, enjoy tea break at Tiangai Temple, appreciate tea related Poem Steles, walk in Mengdingshan Royal Tea Garden. You’ll sure to get some general ideas about tea culture along the way.After tea culture exploration, you’ll continue to visit tea factory, pick tea in the plantation, and see the whole process about how Mengding tea is made. After the happy time in Mengdingshan, drive to Shangli Ancient Town. Ranked as one of the “Top 10 Ancient Towns” in Sichuan, it is a little town which has a mix of reconstructed and original ancient architecture. Enjoy a stroll through the shop-lined alley between beautiful old-style buildings where, if it’s not raining, bamboo shoots are laid out on big straw mats to dry. Find a quiet spot by the river to relax and sip on a cup of tea or try some local snacks.
After that, you will be driven for about half an hour to Bifengxia Panda
Stay overnight in Ya’an.
Day 2 Bifengxia Panda Base--Bifengxia Valley Hiking--Chengdu
On this day, you will be transferred from your hotel to Bifengxia Panda Base, where you can see giant panda living happily in their real homeland city of Ya’an.
Bifengxia Panda Base plays the vital role of the breeding, researching, and scientific education of giant pandas. There in the around 1074 mu wide panda center, panda lovers from the whole planet can closely watch the adorable pandas, join as a panda volunteer, and achieve their dreams about pandas.
Relax yourselves by hiking in Bifengxia Valley with dense forest, numerous waterfalls and breathtaking scenery.
Bifengxia Valley Scenic Spot covers Bifengxia Panda Base, wild animal area, and the scenic valley part. In the “V” shaped valley, lush plantations, multiple emerald peaks and mountains reaching up into the blue sky, various types of waterfalls and lakes, attractive natural sightseeing and refreshing air makes Bifengxia a top recommended place to go in Sichuan. Moreover, in the wild animal area, about 10 thousand wild animals of near 300 sorts are living there. You can see rare animals like Manchurian tigers, leopards, white lions, white tigers, golden monkeys, kangaroos, sea lions, etc.
Your local guide and driver will drive you back to Chengdu. Tour ends!

If you cancel or cannot take your tour as a consequence of force majeure, LeTourPanda will refund the amount you have paid less any non-recoverable out-of-pocket costs incurred on your behalf - car rentals, admissions, hotel reservations, tickets etc. We may require you to provide verification to confirm that you were unable to take your tour if you request a refund under this provision.
Force Majeure includes impersonal events such as war, civil insurrection, strikes, volcanoes, extreme weather, earthquake or natural disaster that makes it dangerous or impossible to safely undertake the tour. The determination of what constitutes 'Force Majeure' is at the discretion of LeTourPanda.
For cancellation due to any other reasons (such as illness, change of personal circumstances), the date on which the request to cancel is received by LeTourPanda will determine the refund due as follows:
If you cancel 7 days or more before the start of the tour:10% cancellation fee.
If you cancel 6 to 2 days before the start of the tour:50% cancellation fee.
If you cancel less than 1 day before the start of the tour or no show: 100% cancellation fee.
